Overview
Admiral Piett is a September 2018 Entertainment Earth online exclusive at $21.99 — released individually boxed through Entertainment Earth and several other online retailers. The first realistic 6” Black Series release for Firmus Piett, one of The Empire Strikes Back’s most memorable supporting characters. Piett rose from Captain to Admiral via what has to be the most stressful battlefield promotion in Star Wars history: Darth Vader Force-choked Admiral Ozzel for coming out of hyperspace too close to the Hoth system, and Piett was elevated on the spot, with the preceding admiral’s body still cooling nearby. He kept the job through Return of the Jedi before an A-Wing pilot took the Executor down with him on it.
18 joints — ball-jointed neck, ball-jointed shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist, ball-jointed hips, swivel thighs, swivel joints above and below knees, ball-jointed ankles.
Accessories
Two accessories: The removable Imperial hat is the standout — a perfect fit for the head, easily put on or taken off, and the exact grey officer’s cap that Piett wears on the Executor bridge. Removing it reveals the full photo-real face underneath. The blaster is painted in plain black with no highlights, which is the one production note — it fits well into both hands but the paint application is simpler than it could have been.
The Uniform and Face
The face printing technology looks outstanding on this figure. The Imperial uniform — the grey officer tunic, rank badge plaque, the whole Empire Strikes Back Super Star Destroyer bridge aesthetic — matches the on-screen version the way we remember it from the film. There’s something specifically satisfying about getting a character like Piett done properly: he’s not a dramatic action figure candidate, but his presence on an Imperial display is exactly the kind of detail that makes a collection feel complete.
The Imperial Officer Category
Black Series 6” had been relatively thin on Imperial officer figures from the original trilogy. Grand Moff Tarkin, General Veers, and a handful of others preceded Piett, but he was notable as the highest-ranking surviving Imperial officer across both ESB and ROTJ. This Entertainment Earth release addressed a genuine gap in the programme’s Imperial roster.
Secondary Market
Entertainment Earth exclusive, September 2018. Two accessories: removable hat and blaster. The hat is the key component to verify on a loose set — without it the figure loses its most distinctive display element.
Verdict
Admiral Piett is a clean, focused exclusive: outstanding photo-real face, film-accurate Imperial uniform, and a removable hat that fits perfectly and comes off easily. The plain-black blaster is the only paint note. For Imperial bridge displays this is an essential character — the man who oversaw both the Hoth pursuit and the Battle of Endor, brought to 6” scale for the first time.
