Overview
The Astromech Droid & Grogu Holiday Edition 2-Pack is a late October/early November 2025 Holiday Edition release with wide retail availability. Wide retail at $27.99. The Astromech Droid is a straight repaint of the 2023 Black Series R2-D2 (figure id=30443) in festive Christmas colours. Grogu accompanies in holiday styling. The droid was painted well in festive Christmas colors and the sculpt is captured beautifully, properly scaled with regular Black Series 6” figures.
The Six-Accessory Loadout
Arm — plugs into one of six holes across two openable front panels (three holes per panel). The two vertical panels on the front of the droid can be opened, each covering three holes where the included arm can be plugged in. Multiple mounting positions for the arm.
Santa hat — fits tightly onto the dome. A dedicated seasonal accessory that fits firmly and transforms the R2-D2 silhouette into a Santa-concept droid.
Two rocket boosters — attach well on the outside of the legs. The booster rockets add a flight-ready display configuration to the standard rolling-droid stance.
Two rockets — launch accessories for the booster configuration.
The Dome Engineering
When the astromech droid faces to the front or the back, it’s possible to pull the dome up and extend it upwards — this reveals the storage area where the included accessories can be placed in. The retractable dome-extend-and-store engineering is a specific functional feature inherited from the 2023 source body. There are also two additional horizontal panels on the front which can be opened, but there are no tools behind them which could be pulled out.
One important caveat: the panels in the dome appear to be glued down in this version of the droid, so you can’t plug any accessories into the dome. The dome accessory holes that are functional on the standard 2023 R2-D2 source body are inaccessible here. Accessories go into the front-panel holes or the dome storage area, not the dome itself.
Articulation
8 joints — 360° rotatable dome, up-and-down dome movement, two swivel outer legs, up-and-down middle leg movement, three swivel ankles. Standard astromech droid articulation. The middle leg can be pulled out of the body, allowing display in either two-legged or three-legged configurations — a classic R2-D2 display option.
The Wide Retail Format
Like the Stormtrooper 3-Pack (Holiday 2025), this Astromech Droid & Grogu 2-Pack is part of the 2025 Holiday Edition programme’s shift toward wide retail availability rather than single-retailer exclusivity. If you are looking for a festive astromech droid in Santa colors, make sure to pick this one up — the source documentation recommends it specifically.
Verdict
Astromech Droid & Grogu Holiday Edition 2-Pack is a well-executed Santa droid concept — six accessories with openable panels, dome storage, rocket booster leg attachments, and a tight-fitting Santa hat deliver a functionally rich accessory loadout for a character class that usually ships with minimal components. The dome-panel-glued limitation is worth knowing before purchase if dome-hole accessory mounting matters to you. The sculpt quality is specifically commended as beautiful and properly scaled. Wide retail, late October 2025.
