The figure depicts Boba Fett in the all-black nano-spray painted disguise he uses in the War of the Bounty Hunters comic book series — specifically the storyline where he must enter a fighting arena incognito to complete a contract, covering his distinctive Mandalorian armour entirely in black to avoid recognition.

This is the most expensive and most restrictively distributed figure in the entire 50th Anniversary sub-line. At $33.99 it sits well above the standard $24.99–$27.99 range. As an SDCC exclusive it required attending the convention or being quick enough to secure a Hasbro Pulse allocation afterward — a genuinely difficult acquisition compared to Fan Channel or Target exclusives.

Distribution

The SDCC distribution method for this figure is specific and worth understanding. It was not sold at the show’s floor. Instead, attendees could scan a barcode at the Hasbro booth which directed them to HasbroPulse.com to place an order — the figure was then shipped directly to households. A limited number were also made available on Hasbro Pulse to collectors who couldn’t attend SDCC, released a few weeks after the convention. Both routes sold through.

Articulation

The review copy had stiff joints — the right outcome for a display figure. Stiff joints hold dynamic battle poses without the figure slowly sinking or toppling. The figure stands well even in active stances.

Accessories

The spear is the specific accessory that distinguishes this from the standard Boba Fett loadout — it’s the weapon appropriate to the fighting pit context of the War of the Bounty Hunters story arc. The blaster fits well into the holster. Both weapons can be held well in both hands; with patience the index finger can reach the trigger on either weapon.

The jetpack plugs into the back hole. The rocket inside the jetpack is not removable. The helmet is not removable and the range-finder is static. The soft-goods cape, chest armour, belt, and pouches are all non-removable.

The All-Black Problem

This version of Boba Fett is completely flat black. No weathering, no paint variation, no highlights, no shading — simply black across all surfaces including the cape, the armour, and every detail. This is accurate to the disguise concept in the comic: nano-spray paint applied to cover identifying details. Whether “accurate to a disguise” is the right standard for a collector figure at $33.99 is a fair question, and the answer most collectors give is no. The lack of any finish work makes this look like an unfinished figure rather than a premium release.

The 2013 base body’s sculpt detail exists under the black — all the panel lines, the armour texture, the weathering built into the original tooling — but flat black paint covers it entirely. There is no texture variation to give the eye anywhere to travel.

The War of the Bounty Hunters Story

War of the Bounty Hunters is a 2021 Marvel comics crossover event centred on the period between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi — specifically, what happens to Boba Fett and the carbonite-frozen Han Solo during the journey to Jabba’s palace. The story involves Han being stolen from Fett by Crimson Dawn, Fett hunting across the galaxy to recover him, and a convergence of almost every significant underworld figure in the Star Wars universe.

The fighting pit arc — where Fett uses the nano-spray disguise to infiltrate an arena and complete a contract with the carbonite case as leverage — is the specific sequence this figure references. It’s one of the comic’s stronger character moments: Fett operating without his visual identity, having to rely entirely on his skills rather than the fear his distinctive armour commands.

As a concept it’s compelling. As a figure it’s a flat black repaint at a premium convention price.
