Star Wars Black Series Lando Calrissian

Every Star Wars Black Series Lando Calrissian figure — Cloud City administrator, Skiff Guard, ROTJ General, and the Solo film Donald Glover version. Display guide for every Lando configuration.

Lando Calrissian has six figures covering his major costume configurations across three films — The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and Solo: A Star Wars Story. The range spans both Billy Dee Williams and Donald Glover’s portrayals, giving the character’s two eras distinct figure coverage even if the Solo version still lacks a Galaxy Collection Photo Real update.

Lando Calrissian in Star Wars

Lando is human — a gambler, smuggler, and former owner of the Millennium Falcon who ran Cloud City, a tibanna gas mining operation on Bespin, by the time of The Empire Strikes Back. His cooperation with Darth Vader and subsequent betrayal of the Empire is the emotional hinge of the Bespin arc: the calculation of a man who made a deal he couldn’t keep, then decided to honour the loyalty it was supposed to protect instead.

His Return of the Jedi arc is the most straightforward redemption story in the Original Trilogy. He led the fleet assault on the second Death Star, piloted the Millennium Falcon through the incomplete structure to destroy the reactor, and came out the other side a General who had earned the title in the most direct possible way.

Donald Glover’s Solo Lando is the younger version — more overtly charming, cape-obsessed, a confidence man whose specific relationship with the Falcon is genuine affection treated as a professional asset. The two portrayals are consistent enough that the character reads as continuous, and the Solo film adds real detail to what makes him the person Billy Dee Williams eventually plays.

His capes are a recurring character detail across all appearances — the number and variety of capes in Solo is treated as character comedy, and the specific cape of his ESB Cloud City administrator appearance is one of the Original Trilogy’s most distinctive costume elements. Every Lando figure carries a cape in some form, which is accurate to the character.

The ESB Figures

The Red Line 2017 Lando is the original Black Series treatment — the Cloud City administrator configuration in pre-Photo Real production. The specific yellow and blue cape combination of his ESB appearance is the most recognisable Lando look, and the figure captures it accurately at the production quality of its era.

The 40th Anniversary ESB Lando from 2020 is the Photo Real update — Billy Dee Williams’ likeness at Galaxy Collection era quality, Kenner cardback packaging. This is the recommended ESB display figure. For the Bespin Duel and Carbon Freezing Chamber displays, this is the correct era and the better production quality.

The ROTJ Figures

The General Lando Calrissian from the ROTJ Galaxy Collection sub-line is the Rebel Alliance uniform configuration — the older Lando in the role he’s earned by the time of Return of the Jedi. Photo Real Billy Dee Williams likeness at current production quality. For the Rebel Briefing Room display and the ROTJ command layer, this is the recommended figure.

The Lando Calrissian Skiff Guard 40th Anniversary covers his Jabba’s Palace undercover configuration — the guard disguise he wears as part of the Rebel infiltration ahead of Han’s rescue. Both the Red Line Skiff Guard Disguise from 2018 and the 40th Anniversary 2023 version cover this configuration; the anniversary version is the more recent production.

The Skiff Guard Lando belongs in the Jabba Throne Room and Skiff Battle displays — the undercover operative who has been waiting inside Jabba’s operation for the rescue to execute.

The Solo Film Lando

The Red Line Solo Lando from 2018 is Donald Glover’s portrayal — the Solo film configuration with cape and blaster, capturing the younger character’s specific aesthetic. No Galaxy Collection update exists for this version, making the 2018 Red Line release the only Solo Lando in the line. For the Kessel Run display, it’s the available option and worth owning despite the pre-Photo Real production quality.

The Solo configuration is notably different from the ESB and ROTJ Billy Dee Williams versions in design as well as likeness — Glover’s Lando is more overtly flamboyant, the cape more prominent, the overall look reflecting a younger character less worn down by the compromises that Bespin requires. The two Landos in a display together tell the arc clearly.

Which to Buy

For ESB display: the 40th Anniversary ESB Lando. For ROTJ General context: General Lando Calrissian from the ROTJ sub-line. For the Skiff Guard infiltration: either the Red Line or 40th Anniversary Skiff Guard. For Solo: the 2018 Red Line Donald Glover version is the only option.

Lando is worth owning across multiple configurations. His costume changes communicate his shifting roles — administrator, infiltrator, general — more clearly than almost any other Original Trilogy character, and the display across ESB, ROTJ Skiff Guard, and ROTJ General tells a complete character arc through costume alone.

He’s also one of the Original Trilogy characters whose figure range most benefits from the 40th Anniversary wave’s Photo Real updates. The pre-Photo Real 2017 ESB Lando doesn’t capture Billy Dee Williams’ specific features effectively. The 40th Anniversary version does. Williams has a distinctive look that Photo Real handles well, and the 2020 update is one of the bigger improvements the technology delivered for the Original Trilogy cast.
