Overview

The Chewbacca & C-3PO Cloud City 2-Pack is a December 2019 Amazon exclusive at $49.99 — a scene-specific set recreating the Empire Strikes Back Cloud City sequence where Chewbacca carries the partially-disassembled C-3PO through Bespin in a net. Both figures were built specifically for this scenario: Chewbacca with a new head sculpt and ESB-appropriate paint, C-3PO with unpluggable limbs that swap for cable accessories to create the disassembled display configuration. The set made the 2019 Top 10 Black Series figures list.

Chewbacca

Built on the Solo: A Star Wars Story Chewbacca body (id=11149), repainted in The Empire Strikes Back colour tones with a brand new head sculpt. The new head and the ESB-specific paint application are the figure’s exclusive contributions — both look great. Correct height. 16 joints.

Three accessories:

Imperial blaster — not Chewbacca’s canonical bowcaster; the Cloud City scene has Chewie carrying an Imperial weapon after being disarmed. Trigger-finger grip, fits well in the hands.

Net — the carrying net for C-3PO. Tight fit, but with patience C-3PO fits inside. Chewie keeps his balance well even with C-3PO’s added weight on his back — a specific engineering positive that matters when displaying the full scene configuration.

Removable bandolier with satchel — easily removable for display flexibility.

C-3PO

Built on the Galaxy’s Edge Droid Depot C-3PO (id=20405), which carries over the movable forearms from that release. 21 joints including swivel biceps, swivel elbows, and two swivel knee-side tools. Dirt was added to the head and torso for the Cloud City battle-damaged look, and the abdominal cables were painted in multiple distinct colours — both specifically done for this release over the Droid Depot source.

The disassembly feature: C-3PO’s arms and legs can be unplugged from the body. The four included cable accessories — two arm versions, two leg versions — plug into the limb sockets in place of the actual arms and legs. This creates the post-blaster-hit partially-disassembled C-3PO configuration from the Cloud City sequence. Once disassembled, the figure pieces fit into Chewbacca’s net — a very tight fit requiring patience, but it works.

Gold finish note: the gold on C-3PO looks OK but isn’t shiny enough to be movie accurate — a known limitation across all Black Series C-3PO releases, not specific to this set.

The Scene Context

The packaging text tells the story directly: encountering a Stormtrooper in Cloud City, C-3PO was blasted at point-blank range and his limbs scattered. Chewbacca gathered the parts and partially reassembled him. The set’s entire engineering is built around this one scene — the new Chewie head suits the specific moment, the Imperial blaster is the weapon Chewie carries in this sequence, the cable accessories recreate the partially-disassembled 3PO state, and the net is sized to carry the disassembled figure pieces. Every component is justified by the scene.

Secondary Market

Amazon exclusive, December 2019, Phase 3 Red Line. Verify all seven accessories: Chewbacca’s blaster, net, and bandolier; C-3PO’s two arm cables and two leg cables. The four small cable accessories are the easiest to lose from a loose set.

Verdict

Chewbacca & C-3PO Cloud City is the most scene-specific set in the Phase 3 Red Line exclusive catalogue — every engineering decision traces back to the same Cloud City moment, and the combination of the disassembly feature, the weight-bearing net display, and the new Chewie head makes the set work as a unified display piece rather than just two figures in a box. The gold finish limitation on 3PO is a programme-wide issue. The net fit requires patience. Both are honest notes on an otherwise excellent Amazon-exclusive 2019 set.
