Death Trooper (Credit Collection) — Star Wars The Black Series

The Black Series Death Trooper (Credit Collection) — November 2020 Amazon exclusive Wave 1 release. Artistic repaint of 2016 source body. 18 joints with soft plastic shoulder bells. 3 accessories: blaster, blaster rifle, Imperial Credit coin. Skinny and tall Scarif proportions. MSRP $24.99.

Overview

The Imperial Death Trooper at the Credit Collection translates the canonical Scarif Imperial Intelligence specialist into the distinctive end-credit artwork aesthetic — a colourful artistic interpretation of the character from The Mandalorian TV series’s Season 1 end-credit sequences. Released November 2020 exclusively at Amazon as part of the inaugural Credit Collection wave. Amazon exclusive at $24.99. 18 joints. Three accessories: a blaster, a blaster rifle, and a collectible Imperial Credit coin. The figure is a repaint of the 2016 Black Series Death Trooper (figure id=4810) with the Credit Collection’s stylised colour palette.

The Wave 1 Credit Collection Context

The Credit Collection launched in October/November 2020 as a limited run of repainted Black Series figures inspired by the end-credit artwork from The Mandalorian Season 1. Each card features the iconic Kenner logo. The Wave 1 figures include Imperial Credit coins — the specific Credit Collection text explains the in-universe context: after the fall of the Galactic Empire, Imperial Credits became less common, with many planets refusing them on principle. The Death Trooper’s Imperial Credit is a Wave 1 detail.

The Wave 1 release split across two retailers: Target received Cara Dune, Greef Karga, The Child / Grogu, and the Target Mandalorian configurations; Amazon received the Din Djarin CC Wave 1 and this Death Trooper.

The Soft Plastic Shoulder Bell Engineering

The addition of soft plastic shoulder bells is fantastic — it allows the arms to go up higher than the typical 90 degrees seen on Star Wars figures wearing armour. This is the same engineering commended on the Imperial Death Trooper (Archive) — the 2016 source body’s soft-bell design enables practical above-90-degree arm movement that hard-plastic shoulder armour physically blocks. The Credit Collection Death Trooper inherits this engineering through the 2016 source body repaint.

The Accessories and Holster

The blasters fit well into both of the Death Trooper’s hands. The smaller blaster can be stowed in the hip holster on the right side. Standard dual-weapon loadout with functional sidearm holster. The Imperial Credit coin rounds out the three-component Wave 1 accessory configuration.

None of the armour pieces are removable — standard integrated Imperial Intelligence trooper design.

The Proportions

The Death Trooper is quite skinny and tall, just like the way they appear in Rogue One. The Credit Collection repaint preserves the canonical Scarif-proportioned sculpt — extended height, narrow profile — through the 2016 source body. The figure is very detailed with shoulder straps, belt pouches, abdominal grooves, and helmet details captured on both front and back.

Articulation

18 joints. Ball-jointed neck, ball-jointed shoulders, ball-jointed elbows, ball-jointed wrists, ball-jointed waist, ball-jointed hips, swivel thighs, swivel joints above and below the knees, ball-jointed ankles. Above the 17-joint baseline through dual-axis knee engineering. The figure stands well on display without falling over.

Secondary Market

Single-carded Amazon exclusive Credit Collection release with dedicated Credit Collection cardback featuring the Kenner logo, November 2020. Available on the secondary market. Verify the blaster, blaster rifle, and Imperial Credit coin are all present.

Verdict

Death Trooper (Credit Collection) is a clean Wave 1 Credit Collection entry through the 2016 source body repaint — the soft plastic shoulder bell engineering delivers practical above-90-degree arm movement rare in armoured Imperial trooper character classes, the canonical Scarif skinny-and-tall proportions are preserved, the dual-weapon loadout with functional holster covers standard combat-deployment configurations, and the figure stands reliably.

As a Credit Collection release this is an artistic end-credit-artwork interpretation rather than a screen-accurate figure. The three-component accessory loadout is lean but appropriate for the character class. The Amazon exclusive distribution distinguishes it from the Target-distributed Wave 1 figures in the same launch cluster.

Buy this figure if you collect the Credit Collection as a complete set, if you appreciate the end-credit artwork palette on the Imperial Intelligence trooper character class, or if you want the soft-bell above-90-degree arm engineering in the Credit Collection format. The Imperial Credit coin accessory is a Wave 1 detail that later CC releases replace with New Republic Credits.

The Scarif Imperial Intelligence specialist in his Credit Collection artistic interpretation. The figure with the soft plastic shoulder bell engineering, the skinny-and-tall canonical proportions, the dual-weapon holster loadout, and the Imperial Credit Wave 1 coin.
