Han Solo (Holocomm) — Star Wars The Black Series

Black Series Han Solo Holocomm — Fan Channel exclusive, 2024. $34.99. 19 joints. Blaster, light-up Holo Puck, Bounty Chip. ANH vest configuration. Part of the Holocomm Collection sub-line. Year imprint 2021 on feet. The most sparsely accessorised figure in the Holocomm line.

Overview

Han Solo (Holocomm) is a Fan Channel exclusive released in 2024 at $34.99, part of the Black Series Holocomm Collection. Fan Channel availability means specialty retailers including GameStop and Entertainment Earth. This is Han in his classic A New Hope vest-and-trousers configuration — the original scoundrel look, white shirt, black vest, blue trousers — paired with the Holocomm Collection’s signature light-up Holo Puck and Bounty Chip.

The Holocomm Collection

The Holocomm Collection is a Phase 4 exclusive sub-line running across 2023 and 2024, adding a light-up Holo Puck and Bounty Chip to each release as premium additions over standard retail figures. The Holo Puck illuminates on press; the Bounty Chip is a small collectible token. Both tie into the bounty hunting and holographic communication themes of the franchise. Han Solo’s inclusion in a bounty-themed sub-line is particularly apt — the character spent much of the original trilogy either working as a smuggler adjacent to the bounty hunting world or actively being hunted himself (by Jabba, by Boba Fett).

The Figure

19 joints — ball-jointed dual-axis neck, ball-jointed shoulders, elbows, wrists, upper body, hips, swivel thighs, swivel joints above and below knees, ball-jointed ankles. Full standard Phase 4 articulation.

Note: this figure has a 2021 year imprint on the bottom of the feet, indicating the tooling dates back to 2021 even though the figure shipped in 2024 as part of the Holocomm line.

Accessories

Blaster — Han’s signature DL-44 heavy blaster pistol. Han Solo figures in the 6” line live and die by the holster and blaster combination, and this release should deliver on both — the holster fits the blaster, and the trigger finger right hand allows a proper one-handed quick-draw display.

Light-up Holo Puck — the Holocomm Collection signature inclusion.

Bounty Chip — Holocomm Collection standard.

The Accessory Gap

Han Solo Holocomm is the most sparsely accessorised figure in the entire Holocomm Collection — just three items total (blaster, Holo Puck, Bounty Chip) compared to Din Djarin’s six or Mae’s seven. At $34.99 against the $27.99 tier figures (Vader, Osha, Mae) who come with comparable or richer accessory sets, this is a value consideration worth noting. The higher price on Han is consistent with the sub-line’s tiered pricing for certain characters, but collectors should go in aware that the blaster is the only figure-specific accessory.

Han Solo in the Original Trilogy Context

The ANH Han Solo look — white shirt, black vest, yellow stripe trousers, holster on the right hip — is the defining Han configuration and the one most Black Series Han releases default to. It’s the version from the cantina scene, the Death Star rescue, the trench run. If you’re building an ANH or original trilogy display, this is the configuration that fits. The Holocomm version doesn’t offer a significant departure from other Han releases in the line in terms of sculpt or costume — the Holo Puck and Bounty Chip are the additions, and the thematic fit of a smuggler with a bounty puck makes those additions more interesting here than they might be on some other characters.

Fan Channel Availability

GameStop, Entertainment Earth, and similar specialty retailers. Standard fan channel distribution with typical stock patterns — order early or monitor for restocks.

Secondary Market

Fan Channel, 2024. Minimal accessories to verify — blaster, Holo Puck, Bounty Chip. The most straightforward accessory check in the Holocomm line.

Verdict

Han Solo Holocomm is a decent OT-era release with the Holocomm additions, but the sparse accessory count at $34.99 is the honest caveat. The blaster and holster are the figure’s primary merits; the Holo Puck adds thematic context for the character. Collectors who already own a well-equipped Han Solo from elsewhere in Phase 4 may find this of limited additional value beyond completing the Holocomm Collection set.

Han Solo’s History in the Black Series 6-Inch Line

Han Solo has appeared in the Black Series 6” line more times than almost any other character — across ANH, ESB, ROTJ, and Solo configurations, in exclusives and standard retail, across Phase 1 through Phase 4. The ANH vest configuration is the baseline, and nearly every collector who has been in the line for any length of time already owns at least one version of it. This Holocomm release builds on the 2021-tooled sculpt (confirmed by the year imprint on the feet) and adds the Holo Puck and Bounty Chip as its differentiators.

For collectors deciding whether this adds value over an existing Han Solo, the honest question is: do you need another ANH Han, or do you want the Holocomm Collection accessories and the line-set completion? If the latter, this is the version to have. If the former, the Holo Puck aside, there isn’t a major reason to upgrade.

The Year Imprint Note

The 2021 year imprint on the bottom of the feet is a practical piece of collector information. It confirms the tooling is from 2021, not newly developed for the Holocomm line. For version-tracking purposes, any Han Solo ANH figure from this period with a 2021 date imprint and the Holo Puck/Bounty Chip accessories can be confirmed as the Holocomm edition.

Han Solo and the Bounty Hunting Universe

Of all the non-bounty-hunter characters in the Holocomm Collection, Han Solo has the strongest thematic connection to the Holo Puck accessory. In The Empire Strikes Back, Han is the target — Jabba’s bounty on him puts every bounty hunter in the galaxy on his trail, culminating in his capture by Boba Fett at Cloud City. A bounty puck with Han Solo’s information exists somewhere in the Star Wars universe. The Holo Puck in this set can be read as that puck — a Jabba tracking token rather than a hunter’s tool. It’s a subtle contextual fit that gives the Holocomm framing more weight for this character than it might seem at first glance.

Display Pairing

The ANH Han Solo pairs most naturally with Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, and Obi-Wan Kenobi from the same era. Within the Holocomm Collection specifically, a Han Solo and Darth Vader Holocomm display side by side captures the central chase of The Empire Strikes Back — the Empire hunting the Rebels, with Vader at the centre.
