Overview
Count Dooku — Jedi Master Dooku — is Black Series #2 in the 2026 mainline, $27.99. This is the Tales of the Jedi configuration: Dooku in his Jedi robes, before his disillusionment with the Order and his fall to the dark side. Cream and brown Jedi attire, curved-hilt lightsaber, the younger version of the character who would become Darth Tyranus. The first and only Black Series Dooku in his Jedi Master form — every previous release showed him as a Sith.
The Figure
The Tales of the Jedi Dooku is a fundamentally different character to the Count Dooku of Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Where the Sith Dooku is silver-haired, aristocratic, dark-robed, and already committed to Palpatine’s vision, the Jedi Master Dooku is earlier — a principled Jedi who genuinely believes in the Order’s mission, whose disillusionment hasn’t yet curdled into betrayal. The Black Series had covered the Sith version extensively (the 2020 Red Line Count Dooku at P3-107), but this is the first time the pre-fall Dooku has a figure.
The Jedi robes are the immediate visual distinction. Cream and light brown layered fabric replacing the dark attire of the prequel films — the same curved-hilt lightsaber design, but worn as a Jedi, not wielded as a Sith. Photo Real face printing captures the younger Dooku with the specific composure of a master who hasn’t yet been broken by what he will eventually discover about the Republic and the Council.
The Curved Hilt
Dooku’s curved lightsaber hilt is one of the most distinctive weapon designs in the Black Series. The curve is functional within the fiction — it’s optimised for Makashi, Form II lightsaber combat, the duelling form Dooku mastered. In figure form the hilt is sculpted correctly and fits naturally in either hand. The blade is removable. The hilt can be worn on a belt peg when not in use.
Tales of the Jedi Context
Tales of the Jedi is the animated anthology series from Dave Filoni covering formative moments for Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku across the prequel era. The Dooku episodes — three of the six in the first season — trace his growing disillusionment: a failed mission that exposes Republic corruption, the assassination of his Padawan Sifo-Dyas, and his first meeting with Darth Sidious. By the end of the trilogy the Jedi Master has become Darth Tyranus, but the series shows the steps that got him there rather than the destination.
The figure is credited as “Jedi Master Dooku” on the packaging — not “Count Dooku” — which is the correct form of address for this period. He isn’t yet a Count in the Sith sense; that title comes from his Serenno noble heritage, which the Jedi Order discouraged him from using.
Dooku in the Black Series
Two Black Series Dooku figures exist: this Jedi Master version and the 2020 Red Line Count Dooku in his Sith configuration. The two figures are the same person at maximum narrative distance — the Jedi who believed in the Order and the Sith who helped destroy it. Displaying both on the same shelf makes a visual argument about the character that neither figure makes alone.
The Jedi Master version is the 2026 release at the current $27.99 price point. The 2020 Sith version is secondary market at varying prices. For collectors who want one Dooku, this 2026 figure is the current production choice. For collectors interested in the character arc, both are necessary.
Secondary Market
Mainline 2026 release at $27.99. Widely available at retail. No significant secondary market premium expected given the mainline distribution and standard price point.
Our Verdict
The Jedi Master Dooku fills a gap the Black Series has had since the first Dooku figure in 2020 — the other side of the character, the version that makes the fall meaningful. The Tales of the Jedi configuration is well-chosen: cream Jedi robes, curved hilt, Photo Real face printing on a character whose face carries the weight of what he hasn’t yet decided to become. Essential for any Dooku character collection, and the more emotionally interesting figure of the two versions available.
