The 2023 Star Wars The Black Series R2‑D2 joins the 40th Anniversary Return of the Jedi retro-carded line as a fully new sculpt, replacing the undersized 2013 body used for a decade. This release features accurate proportions, deeper panel lines, improved dome rotation, and multiple pop‑up tools, all presented on a vintage-style ROTJ cardback.

As part of Wave 2 of the ROTJ 40th Anniversary series, this R2‑D2 is essential for any Jabba’s Palace, Sail Barge, or Endor display. The new tooling finally delivers the definitive 6‑inch astromech scale.

  • Body Sculpt & Proportions:
    Completely new tooling with correct height, wider body, deeper panel recesses, and accurate dome curvature. This is the first properly scaled R2 in the Black Series.

  • Dome Sculpt:
    Features crisp blue panels, silver finish, and clean lens detailing. Dome rotation is smoother and more stable than the 2013 mold.

  • Chest & Utility Details:
    Includes sculpted tool panels, vents, and ports with sharper definition. The legs feature improved piston detailing.
