Release Year: 2011 VC Number: #VC09 (ROTJ Variant) ID: boba-fett-star-wars-the-vintage-collection-vc09-rotj-variant

The galaxy’s most feared bounty hunter returned to The Vintage Collection in 2011, swapping his Bespin gear for his colorful Return of the Jedi appearance. While sharing the VC09 designation with the 2010 Empire Strikes Back release, this version is a significant visual departure. It captures Boba Fett as he appeared in Jabba’s Palace and over the Great Pit of Carkoon, featuring the brighter, more varied color palette and the specialized weaponry used during the daring rescue of Han Solo.

Technical Details & Sculpt

  • Design & ROTJ Silhouette: The sculpt is updated to reflect the specific "ROTJ" armor configuration. This is most notable in the dark red gauntlets and the colorful, striped jetpack. The figure maintains the lean, lethal profile of the hunter while adding the distinct visual flourishes seen in the final chapter of the original trilogy.
  • Deco & Scuffed Finish: The 2011 release is defined by its vibrant, battle-damaged palette. The paint application features a brighter green helmet and chest plates, heavily weathered with silver "scuffs" to simulate high-impact combat. The yellow-orange shoulder bells and red gauntlets provide a high-contrast look that pops against the desert sands of Tatooine.
  • Articulation: Featuring premium TVC articulation, including ball-jointed shoulders, elbows, and knees. The specialized ball-jointed hips and "rocker" ankles are essential for this figure, allowing Fett to be posed mid-flight on a Skiff or in a defensive stance against a Jedi Knight.
  • Display Utility: This is the mandatory "villain" for any Jabba’s Sail Barge (The Khetanna) or Desert Skiff diorama. He is best positioned alongside Lando Calrissian (VC101) or hovering over Luke Skywalker (VC23).

Accessories & Equipment

Boba Fett comes prepared to collect the bounty on a Jedi with an upgraded tactical loadout. He includes his signature EE-3 carbine rifle, featuring the unique "ROTJ" barrel design and a dark metallic finish. A standout feature of the 2011 release is the highly detailed Z-6 jetpack, which features a vibrant red, blue, and yellow paint scheme. Additionally, the figure includes the soft-goods wookiee-scalp braids and a weathered green fabric cape. The articulated rangefinder on the helmet remains a key feature, allowing for "targeting mode" display during the chaotic battle at the Sarlacc Pit.
