The silent, crimson sentinels of the Emperor’s inner sanctum, the Emperor’s Royal Guard, made their debut in The Vintage Collection in 2012 as part of Wave 16. This figure was immediately hailed as a masterpiece of the line, as it masterfully combined the character’s ceremonial film appearance with a secret, combat-ready "under-armor" design inspired by the Crimson Empire comics. It remains one of the most versatile and aesthetically pleasing figures from the original TVC run.

Technical Details & Sculpt

  • Design & Silhouette: The figure is designed to be an imposing presence. The outer soft-goods cloak is made of a heavy, velvet-textured fabric that drapes perfectly to create the iconic "monolith" silhouette seen in the Death Star II Throne Room.
  • Hidden Combat Armor: Removing the cloak reveals a fully sculpted, super-articulated body clad in crimson combat armor. This dual-purpose design allows collectors to display the figure as a formal guard or as a deadly warrior from the Expanded Universe stories.
  • Deco & Finish: The helmet and armor plates are finished in a high-gloss scarlet red, mimicking the polished look of the film props. The 2012 release is noted for the deep, rich tone of the fabric, which matches the plastic components with exceptional color accuracy.
  • Articulation: Featuring premium TVC articulation, including ball-jointed shoulders, elbows, knees, and ankles. The use of a fabric cloak ensures that the articulation is completely unhindered, allowing for a wide variety of combat stances.

Accessories & Equipment

The Royal Guard comes heavily armed for both ceremonial and frontline duty. He includes his signature Force Pike, a heavy blaster pistol, and a vibro-blade. The pistol and blade can be utilized when the figure is in its "combat mode," while the Force Pike is the essential accessory for his classic sentinel pose alongside the Emperor’s throne.
