Star Wars Black Series Cara Dune
Every Star Wars Black Series Cara Dune figure — the Rebel shock trooper and Marshal of Nevarro from The Mandalorian seasons one and two. Display context and the real-world situation that ended the character's production run.
Cara Dune is a Mandalorian season one and two character whose Black Series figures are among the line’s most discussed in terms of what they represent beyond their display function. She was a significant character in The Mandalorian’s early seasons, received multiple figure releases, was promoted as a major franchise character — and then Gina Carano, the actress who portrayed her, was fired by Lucasfilm in February 2021 following controversy over social media posts. The character was written out and has not appeared in any subsequent production. The figures exist as a complete record of what the character was before that happened.
Cara Dune in Star Wars
Cara Dune is human — a former Rebel shock trooper, a veteran of Alderaan whose homeworld’s destruction left her without a cause, who Din Djarin encounters on Sorgan in The Mandalorian season one. Her arc across the first two seasons positions her as the series’ secondary action lead: the fighter who matches Din in close combat and becomes his most reliable ally, eventually accepting the role of Marshal for the growing Nevarro settlement.
Her background as a Rebel veteran gives her a specific identity within the Mandalorian-era cast — someone who fought in the Galactic Civil War, who carries that history, and whose post-war life reflects the instability of a galaxy that won the war but hasn’t yet figured out what peace looks like. Marshal of Nevarro was a reasonable narrative destination for the character at the end of season two: settled, purposeful, integrated into the New Republic’s developing order.
She doesn’t appear in season three or any subsequent production. The character’s absence from the Nevarro Streets display is visible — the Marshal of a town that the series returns to repeatedly, not present in any of the season three footage. Whether the character will be recast or written out permanently is a production decision that hasn’t been publicly resolved.
The Figure Releases
Three figures cover Cara Dune’s Mandalorian appearances, all from 2019-2020.
The Red Line Deluxe is the first release — her initial Mandalorian season one configuration with the Deluxe accessories that covered her specific equipment. Released at launch alongside the first wave of Mandalorian Red Line figures, it’s the original Black Series treatment of the character.
The Red Line standard covers the same basic configuration in the standard figure format — the non-Deluxe version for collectors who wanted the character without the premium accessories or price point.
The Credit Collection Target exclusive is the Galaxy Collection era release — Photo Real face printing for Gina Carano’s likeness, the most recent and highest-quality production of the character. The Credit Collection metallic finish treatment distinguishes it visually from the standard releases.
The Collecting Context
The Cara Dune figures occupy a specific position in the Black Series secondary market. Production was discontinued after February 2021. No new releases have followed. The figures that exist are the complete production run of the character, and secondary market pricing reflects both the demand from collectors who want her for the Nevarro display and the constrained supply of a discontinued line.
For collectors building the Nevarro Streets or season one-two Mandalorian display, Cara Dune is a significant figure whose absence from future waves is established. The Credit Collection version is the production recommendation for display — the highest quality release in the range — but all three figures are secondary market purchases rather than current retail items.
The situation is worth understanding plainly: the figures exist, they’re collectible, they have display value, and the real-world circumstances that ended production are documented. A collector page that ignores that context isn’t serving the collector.
