Star Wars Black Series Luke Skywalker
Every Star Wars Black Series Luke Skywalker figure — the most produced character in the line across every era from ANH X-Wing Pilot to Imperial Light Cruiser. Which version to buy for every display and why the 2025 ANH release is the current definitive version.
Luke Skywalker has more Black Series figures than any other character — a catalogue spanning every packaging phase, every major costume, and every significant story moment from 1977 through The Last Jedi and into The Mandalorian era. Navigating the range requires understanding what each configuration represents, which production era delivers the best quality for each look, and which figures have been superseded by later releases.
Luke Skywalker in Star Wars
Luke is human — a Tatooine farm boy who becomes a Jedi Knight, destroys the first Death Star, confronts Darth Vader in Cloud City, trains on Dagobah, and ultimately redeems his father in the Death Star throne room. His arc across the Original Trilogy is the Skywalker saga’s backbone. The sequel trilogy adds the reclusive Jedi Master on Ahch-To, the Force projection at Crait, and eventually the younger version revealed in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett — a Luke between Return of the Jedi and his creation of the Jedi Academy, still capable of the things the films show him doing.
His costume changes are meaningful across the trilogy. The orange X-Wing pilot suit is the farm boy given something to do. The Dagobah fatigues are the student. The Bespin white shirt and grey trousers are the son who still hopes to reach his father. The black Jedi Knight robes are the completed warrior. Each costume is a story beat, and the figure range covers them all.
Mark Hamill’s likeness is one of the Black Series’ most reproduced human faces — and because his specific features are very precisely defined, the Photo Real era gap is particularly visible for Luke compared to some other Original Trilogy characters. The pre-Photo Real figures don’t look like Mark Hamill in the way the Galaxy Collection releases do.
The 2025 ANH Luke
The Galaxy Collection ANH Luke Skywalker from 2025 is the current definitive version for the A New Hope configuration — Photo Real production at the highest quality the line has delivered for the character, the specific Tatooine and Death Star costume at current standards. It supersedes the 2013 Orange Wave original, the 2016 and 2017 Red Line versions, and the 40th Anniversary ANH releases for display purposes. This is the figure for the Death Star Corridors and Mos Eisley displays.
The Essential Configuration Guide
Bespin — the 40th Anniversary ESB Bespin Luke from 2020 is the Photo Real recommendation for the Cloud City duel. The 2014 Blue Wave original is the founding era figure; the 40th Anniversary update is the current display version.
Dagobah — the 40th Anniversary Dagobah Luke from 2020 is the only dedicated Dagobah configuration in Photo Real quality. The training fatigues, the swamp environment context — this is the figure for the Dagobah display.
Snowspeeder — the Galaxy Collection ESB Snowspeeder Luke from 2020 covers the Hoth pilot configuration at current quality. The Battle of Hoth display recommendation.
Jedi Knight (ROTJ) — the 40th Anniversary ROTJ Jedi Knight Luke from 2023 is the definitive black-robes configuration. For the Throne Room Duel display, this is the figure.
Imperial Light Cruiser — the Mandalorian sub-line Imperial Light Cruiser Luke from 2023 is widely considered the best individual Luke figure the line has produced. The post-ROTJ version, black robes, Photo Real at its most refined, the specific look of Luke in the Mandalorian post-credits appearance. For a single Luke that represents the character at his Jedi Knight peak, this is the one.
TLJ Jedi Master — the TLJ Galaxy Collection Luke from 2022 covers the Ahch-To hermit configuration. The grey robes, the older Luke who has walked away from everything. For the Battle of Crait display, this is the era-accurate figure.
The Expanded Universe and Legacy Releases
The Luke Skywalker and Ysalamiri Comic 50th Anniversary covers the Legends continuity — the Timothy Zahn era Thrawn Trilogy Luke, paired with the Force-suppressing lizard that features in those novels. For the Expanded Universe Display, it’s the Luke entry from the publishing history.
The POTF2 tribute Hasbro Pulse exclusive pays homage to the 1990s Power of the Force 2 collector line, following the same pattern as other POTF2 tributes in the 50th Anniversary programme.
The Force FX Elite Luke Skywalker Lightsaber covers the green saber as a dedicated prop piece — the weapon of his Jedi Knight configuration, the blade whose colour was deliberately chosen to distinguish it from Vader’s red and from Obi-Wan’s blue.
The Stormtrooper Disguise
The Blue Wave Stormtrooper Disguise Luke pairs naturally with the Han Solo Stormtrooper Disguise for the Death Star infiltration display — two Rebels in stolen armour, the specific ANH sequence that gets them to the detention block. Both are pre-Photo Real Blue Wave figures, serviceable for the specific costume context.
Which Luke to Buy
The short answer: ANH 2025 for Tatooine and Death Star, 40th ESB Bespin for Cloud City, 40th ESB Dagobah for the training sequences, Galaxy Collection ESB Snowspeeder for Hoth, 40th ROTJ Jedi Knight for the throne room, Imperial Light Cruiser as the best single Luke figure in the line, and TLJ Galaxy Collection for the Ahch-To and Crait era.
That’s six figures covering the full arc at current production quality. It’s also a satisfying display project — each figure represents a distinct chapter in the character’s story, and building all six alongside the corresponding era figures creates the most complete Luke Skywalker collection the line makes possible.
