Overview
Red Line #05 is the TFA Chewbacca — a revised version of the Blue Wave Chewbacca (P2-04) updated for the TFA release wave. The base figure uses the same body engineering, but the fur colour application is adjusted for the TFA aesthetic — Chewie in the 2015 film is slightly greyer and lighter around the muzzle and face, reflecting thirty years of age since A New Hope. The bowcaster is also updated to reflect the specific TFA prop design, which has slightly different geometry from the Original Trilogy version.
The TFA configuration matters for display accuracy if you care about era-specific Chewie versions. Placed alongside TFA-era figures — Finn, Rey, Han Solo TFA — the TFA Chewbacca is the correct choice over the Blue Wave version. MSRP $19.99.
The Character and Scene Context
Chewie in TFA is thirty years older and visibly so — the grey colouring around the muzzle and face is one of the film’s more subtle continuity details, acknowledging that Wookiees age. Why the TFA Chewbacca vs Galaxy Collection Question Matters Less Than for Human Figures
The fur-quality argument that made the Blue Wave Chewbacca display-competitive against newer releases applies equally here. When collectors debate whether to upgrade from a pre-Photo Real human figure to a Galaxy Collection replacement, the answer is almost always “yes” because the portrait improvement is dramatic. For Chewbacca, the calculation is different: the incremental fur texture improvement from the Red Line to the 2025 Galaxy Collection version is real but subtle, not the dramatic gap that separates pre-Photo Real Luke Skywalker from his Photo Real equivalent. A Red Line TFA Chewbacca displayed in a TFA ensemble will not create the quality mismatch that a Red Line Obi-Wan Kenobi would create alongside Galaxy Collection ROTS figures.

Buy for TFA ensemble accuracy or Red Line sequence completion. The Galaxy Collection ANH Chewbacca remains the display standard for the best current Chewie portrait quality.
TFA Chewie vs Blue Wave Chewie
The two Chewbacca figures — Blue Wave P2-04 and this Red Line #05 — are close enough in visual terms that many collectors display one or the other rather than both. The meaningful differences are the greyer muzzle colouration of the TFA version and the updated bowcaster prop geometry. For a dedicated TFA display, the Red Line version is era-accurate. For a dedicated Original Trilogy display, the Galaxy Collection ANH version is recommended over either of these pre-Photo Real era figures.
One argument for the Red Line TFA Chewie specifically: in TFA, Chewbacca uses the bowcaster in a way the Original Trilogy never explored — Han Solo’s one shot with it is the film’s visual proof of how much more powerful it is than the DL-44. The Red Line TFA Chewie’s bowcaster prop reflects the specific design visible in those sequences.
