Colonel Ward — Star Wars The Black Series

The Star Wars Black Series Colonel Ward — Mandalorian & Grogu Collection #MAG 04, 2026. $27.99 mainline. New Republic military officer from the Mandalorian & Grogu theatrical film. X-Wing pilot helmet and blaster pistol. The command tier of the MAG Collection's New Republic side.

Overview

Colonel Ward is Mandalorian & Grogu Collection #MAG 04, 2026 mainline, $27.99. A new character from the Mandalorian & Grogu theatrical film — the New Republic military officer who represents the command tier of the film’s protagonist faction. X-Wing pilot helmet. Blaster pistol. Revealed at Disney’s Most Wanted event in New York, February 2026. Available as standard release and First Edition white packaging variant.

A New Character

Colonel Ward is the newest face in the MAG Collection. The Remnant figures at #MAG 02, 03, 05, and 06 are trooper variants — familiar archetypes in new configurations. Ward is a named character from a film not yet released at the time the figure was revealed, which means the figure arrived in the Phase 4 system before most collectors knew who he was.

What the X-Wing pilot helmet communicates immediately is which side he’s on. The helmet is the specific piece of equipment that connects Ward to the New Republic’s air corps — the institutional successor to the Rebel Alliance’s fighter pilot tradition. An officer with that helmet in the post-Endor era is someone who came up through or alongside the people who flew against the Death Star and at the Battle of Jakku. That heritage is visible in a single accessory.

The New Republic Military

The Mandalorian series established the New Republic as a government that emerged from the Rebellion but struggles to project force into the Outer Rim — too democratic for the decisive military action that regions like Nevarro require, too focused on the Core to notice what the Remnant is doing at the edges. Colonel Ward’s rank places him within the New Republic’s military hierarchy, senior enough to be named, senior enough to be on the ground in whatever the film brings him to.

His position in the MAG Collection is the command tier on the protagonist side — the counterpart to the Remnant’s vehicle specialists and infantry. The collection’s complete display has Ward and the Din Djarin/Grogu 2-pack representing the New Republic and the Mandalorian, the Remnant figures representing the antagonist force they’re up against.

Accessories

X-Wing pilot helmet and blaster pistol. The helmet is the defining accessory — the character read that works before you know anything else about Ward. The blaster is the standard New Republic military sidearm.

Where He Sits in the Collection

Colonel Ward at #MAG 04 comes before the Imperial Remnant Stormtrooper at #05 and #06 — the MAG Collection’s placement of a new named character ahead of the army builder tier is a clear signal about priority. Ward is the individual. The Stormtroopers are the force. The collection sequences them correctly.

The complete MAG Collection Remnant formation: AT-AT Driver (#02) for armoured assault, AT-RT Driver (#03) for reconnaissance, Colonel Ward (#04) for New Republic command, Imperial Remnant Stormtrooper (#05) for infantry. Each figure a distinct tier. A functioning force structure in miniature.

Display

Ward belongs with the Din Djarin & Grogu 2-pack on the protagonist side of a Mandalorian & Grogu display. New Republic command alongside the Mandalorian and his foundling, facing down the Remnant’s vehicle corps and infantry on the other end of the shelf. The complete MAG Collection as a display tells the story of the film’s conflict in figures.

He also works as a standalone New Republic military figure alongside other post-Endor era Black Series releases — Carson Teva, Greef Karga, and the broader Mandalorian-era cast.

Secondary Market

Standard mainline 2026 release at $27.99. New named characters from theatrical Star Wars releases at standard retail pricing typically see secondary market movement once the film provides context. The First Edition is a packaging variant only.

Our Verdict

Colonel Ward is the MAG Collection’s new face — the character from the film rather than the trooper variant from the army builder tier. The X-Wing pilot helmet is the right accessory for the right character, and at $27.99 standard retail the entry cost for a new theatrical Star Wars character is as low as it gets. Get him at launch.
