Luke Skywalker (Skywalker Strikes) — Star Wars The Black Series

The Black Series Luke Skywalker (Skywalker Strikes) — Berlin Comic Con September 2019, US Fan Channel November 2019. $29.99. Same Yavin figure with premium accessory set: blaster, removable jacket (sleeves sculpted on), Jedi Training Remote with poseable stand, openable container, book, blast shield helmet, lightsaber with removable blade, Force Deflect attachment. Outstanding photo-real face. Superior to single-card in every way.

Overview

Luke Skywalker (Skywalker Strikes) debuted at Berlin Comic Con in September 2019 before touring European conventions — Paris Comic Con, MCM London — and reaching US Fan Channel retailers in November 2019 at $29.99. That’s $10 more than the single-card Yavin Luke (id=23605) it’s based on. The source documentation states the premium is justified: this release feels premium and is superior to the single-card version in every way. Named after Star Wars #1 from the 2015 Marvel Comics run — the “Skywalker Strikes” issue — the set captures early post-Yavin Luke with the full complement of gear from that period.

19 joints — ball-jointed dual-axis neck, ball-jointed shoulders, elbows, wrists (rocker joints, limited by sleeve overhang), ball-jointed upper body, ball-jointed hips, swivel thighs, swivel joints above and below knees, ball-jointed ankles.

The Figure

Same body and costume as the Yavin single-card. The photo-real face printing looks outstanding — one of the better Luke faces in the programme. Colour tones on the pants and jacket match the on-screen costume well. Stands well on display without falling. The wrist rocker joints are present but can’t be used much because the sleeves extend slightly over the hands, limiting the bend range.

The Ten Accessories

Blaster — fits both the holster and Luke’s hands well. This is the standard blaster Luke carries in the post-Yavin period before committing fully to the lightsaber path.

Removable jacket — the jacket body is removable, but the sleeves are sculpted and painted onto the arms underneath it. Removing the jacket leaves Luke with shirt sleeves but no jacket body, which doesn’t represent any specific on-screen configuration. The jacket is effectively a display styling choice rather than a meaningful reveal. The source documentation notes this directly: taking it off doesn’t make sense because Luke would still have the sleeves on.

Jedi Training Remote — the floating remote from the Millennium Falcon training sequence, where Ben Kenobi has Luke deflect blaster bolts while wearing the blast shield. Attached to a poseable plastic stick that plugs into the display base. The ball-joint at the bottom of the stick lets you angle the remote in different positions relative to the stand — hovering at eye level, at an angle, or lower.

Plastic base for the Jedi Training Remote — the display stand. Plugs into the remote’s stick securely.

Book — a small book accessory, part of the Skywalker Strikes comic-specific theming.

Container (suitcase) — opens to store the included book inside. A functioning miniature luggage piece that adds a small but characterful scene-building element.

Blast shield helmet — the training helmet from the Falcon sequence. A tight fit over the head — pull it off carefully to avoid scratching the plastic. The source recommends caution. It fits correctly and is the right size.

Lightsaber with removable blade — fits well in both hands. The blade detaches from the hilt cleanly.

Force Deflect attachment for the lightsaber blade — plugs onto the blade to create the in-deflection display configuration from the training sequence — the moment Luke deflects the remote’s bolt while wearing the blast shield. Completing the training scene requires the remote on stand + Luke in blast shield + lightsaber with Force Deflect effect.

The Training Scene Display

The accessories collectively rebuild the Millennium Falcon training sequence: blast shield helmet on Luke, remote hovering on its stand, lightsaber with the Deflect attachment mid-block. Three accessories, one scene. It’s the kind of multi-component display configuration that the Black Series had rarely provided before, and the execution here works correctly.

The $10 Premium

The Yavin single-card Luke at $19.99 came with a medal, a lightsaber, and a blaster. This version at $29.99 drops the medal, adds eight additional accessories, and comes in different packaging. The source documentation’s verdict — superior in every way — reflects the accessory depth, the quality of the packaging presentation, and the premium feel of the complete set. No Medal of Yavin is included in the Skywalker Strikes version; collectors who specifically want the medal will need the single-card release for that.

Secondary Market

Fan Channel, November 2019 US. Verify all nine distinct accessories: blaster, jacket, Training Remote, stand, book, container, blast shield helmet, lightsaber hilt, lightsaber blade, and Force Deflect attachment. The Force Deflect attachment and the book are the smallest and most easily separated on loose sets.

Verdict

Luke Skywalker (Skywalker Strikes) is the definitive post-Yavin Luke in the Black Series 6” programme — ten accessories covering the training sequence in full, the comic-specific container and book, the blast shield and lightsaber together, and an outstanding photo-real face. The jacket’s sculpted-sleeves limitation is the honest note. Well worth the $10 premium over the single-card.
