Sith Trooper (SDCC 2019) — Star Wars The Black Series

The Black Series Sith Trooper — SDCC 2019 early edition exclusive. $32. First Rise of Skywalker figure at convention. 18 joints — soft shoulder bells don't obstruct at >90° arm raise. 5 accessories: 2 blasters (thigh peg), folded blaster cannon, grappling arm (pliers open/close), blade weapon (poor hand fit). Distinctive pull-sleeve packaging. Grooved armour sculpt. Paint not premium.

Overview

The Sith Trooper (SDCC 2019) is an early edition convention exclusive at $32 — released at San Diego Comic Con 2019 and other international conventions, serving as the first look at The Rise of Skywalker’s new trooper type in 6” Black Series form. The SDCC packaging uses Hasbro’s established convention format: an outer sleeve pulls upward to reveal the figure, with tabs on each side of the packaging that pull out to reveal the weapons and accessories. 18 joints — no swivel biceps in this configuration.

Soft Shoulder Bells

A practical engineering note: the Sith Trooper’s shoulder armour is made from very soft plastic. When the arms are raised more than 90 degrees, the shoulder bells flex rather than restrict — they move out of the way rather than blocking the joint. A considered detail for dynamic posing.

Five Accessories

Two blasters — both fit well in the hands and can be plugged into the right thigh hole for storage.

Blaster cannon — folded into a compact configuration. Cannot be unfolded. Displayed as a folded weapon only.

Grappling arm — the standout accessory. Fits well in the hands and the pliers at the end can be opened or closed — a functioning grip mechanism on a display accessory.

Blade weapon — unfortunately does not fit well in the hands and the figure looks awkward holding it. If you find a good display pose with this one, it takes some effort.

The Sculpt and Paint

The sculpt looks cool — lots of grooves in the armour on the front and back, distinct from the standard Stormtrooper aesthetic. The paint is the honest note: it’s somewhat reflective but doesn’t feel premium when compared to other Black Series 6” figures. The armour reads as simple in paint finish relative to what the line had been producing. The helmet is not removable.

The Rise of Skywalker Context

The Sith Trooper was revealed at SDCC 2019 alongside The Rise of Skywalker marketing — an ancient-order soldier from Exegol. As the first figure of this trooper type, the SDCC release precedes the retail First Edition and standard releases (id=22581, 22584).

Secondary Market

SDCC 2019. Five accessories: two blasters, folded blaster cannon, grappling arm, blade weapon. The two blasters are identical — confirm two are present.

Verdict

Sith Trooper SDCC is a solid first-look exclusive for a new trooper design — interesting armour grooves, soft shoulder bells for dynamic posing, and a grappling arm with functional pliers. The blade weapon grip and paint finish are honest limitations. For Rise of Skywalker collectors tracking the trooper’s programme debut, this is the one.
