Stormtrooper, Clone Trooper Commander, First Order Stormtrooper Officer & Clone Trooper Phase II (Amazon 4-Pack) — Star Wars The Black Series
The Black Series Amazon 4-Pack — 2015 Amazon exclusive. $79.99. Four trooper repaints: battle-damage Stormtrooper (23 joints), Phase I Clone Commander with yellow markings and grey back panel (22 joints), First Order Stormtrooper Officer with orange pauldron — sloppy chest paint noted (19 joints), Phase II Clone Trooper — first ever basic Phase II in 6-inch — helmet too small noted (22 joints).
Overview
The Amazon 4-Pack is a 2015 Phase 3 Red Line Amazon exclusive at $79.99 — four trooper repaints in a single box spanning three eras of the saga. A Stormtrooper with battle damage from A New Hope, a Clone Trooper Commander in Phase I armour, a First Order Stormtrooper Officer with orange pauldron from The Force Awakens, and a Phase II Clone Trooper. The implied per-figure cost is roughly $20 — below standard single-card retail at the time. Each figure is a repaint of an existing source body with a specific exclusive paint difference that distinguishes it from any standard release.
Stormtrooper (Battle Damage)
A repaint of the standard Stormtrooper (id=2285) with battle damage applied across five specific points: the chest, the right thigh, the helmet, the right shoulder bell, and both weapons are given a metallic/grey used finish. 23 joints — dual-axis neck, swivel biceps, dual-axis elbows, standard above-baseline Phase 3 configuration.
The blast marks on the chest, helmet, and shoulder bell don’t look that great — the source documentation calls them out directly, noting the 3¾-inch line has produced better battle damage paint applications. The copyright date was removed from the bottom of the left foot compared to the standard release, and the thermal detonator canister on the back has one grey stripe fewer. The back hole is unfortunately still present on the torso. Both weapons OK in hands, blaster stows in the left hip holster. No head under the helmet.
Clone Trooper Commander (Phase I)
A repaint of the Phase I Clone Trooper (id=2286) with yellow Commander rank markings on the armour. 22 joints — swivel biceps and dual-axis elbows above baseline.
Two exclusive paint details not seen on any previous Phase I Clone: the back panel is painted with grey highlights, and both weapons have white detailing — neither had appeared on any Phase I Clone Trooper release before this 4-pack. Beautifully sculpted, captures the Episode II clone look spot-on, stands well in dynamic poses. Shoulder armour limits arm elevation as standard for the tooling. Belt not removable.
First Order Stormtrooper Officer
Identical to the standard First Order Stormtrooper (id=3462) with one addition: an orange shoulder pauldron that is removable. 19 joints — the lower articulation count reflects the First Order Stormtrooper source body rather than a reduction specific to this release.
One paint quality note: the small stripes on the chest armour looked as if somebody painted them on with a black marker on the reviewed sample — sloppy execution on a detail that should be crisp. The right thigh has a weapon peg hole where either included blaster can be plugged in. Trigger-finger grip on both weapons. Belt and thermal detonator in the back are not removable.
Clone Trooper (Phase II)
The standout figure in the set: the first basic Phase II Clone Trooper ever released in the Black Series 6-inch line. Prior to this 4-pack, Phase II Clone armour had not appeared in standard 6” form — this was the only way to get one until subsequent mainline releases. 22 joints — same configuration as the Phase I Clone source body.
One honest note: the helmet is unfortunately too small. No dirt or weathering on the armour. Both weapons are plain black with no paint detail whatsoever — a cost-cut consistent with the set’s value pricing. Stands well in dynamic battle poses. Shoulder bells limit arm elevation as standard.
The Value Proposition
At $79.99 for four figures the implied per-figure cost is around $20 — below the $22–25 single-card standard at the time of release. The trade-off is that all four figures are repaints rather than new characters, and two of the four have specific paint quality issues (Stormtrooper blast marks, First Order Officer chest stripes). The Phase II Clone Trooper’s first-appearance status and the Phase I Commander’s back-panel and weapon paint exclusives are the set’s genuine collector additions. For trooper army builders or era-spanning display collectors, the pricing makes this worthwhile; for collectors who want primary characters, it doesn’t deliver them.
Secondary Market
Amazon exclusive, 2015, Phase 3 Red Line. Verify all nine accessories: Stormtrooper’s blaster + blaster rifle; Clone Commander’s blaster + blaster rifle; FO Officer’s blaster + blaster rifle + orange pauldron; Phase II Clone’s blaster + blaster rifle. The orange pauldron is the most display-critical unique component and most easily separated from loose sets.
Verdict
Amazon 4-Pack 2015 earns its place in the Phase 3 Red Line as a value-priced trooper set with several genuine exclusives — the first Phase II Clone Trooper in 6” scale, the yellow Commander markings with first-ever white weapon detailing, and the orange-pauldron First Order Officer. The battle-damage Stormtrooper’s mediocre blast marks and the FO Officer’s sloppy chest stripes are the quality lowlights. A solid army-builder set when purchased at or below original retail.
