The elite backbone of the Imperial Navy made its debut in The Vintage Collection in 2011 as part of Wave 8. Representing the cold, anonymous pilots of the Galactic Empire as seen in A New Hope, this figure was a significant leap forward in 3.75-inch engineering. It moved away from the bulkier, pre-posed sculpts of the past to offer a sleek, super-articulated pilot that finally fit perfectly into the narrow cockpits of the TIE Fighter and TIE Interceptor vehicles.

Technical Details & Sculpt

  • Design & Vacuum-Seal Gear: The sculpt captures the "high-tech" intimidation of the Imperial flight suit. It features the reinforced life-support chest box with flexible hoses connecting to the helmet. The helmet itself is a standout, featuring crisp silver "Imperial Cog" decals on the temples and the sinister, insectoid green-tinted lenses.
  • Deco & Finish: The 2011 release utilizes a high-gloss black finish on the helmet and chest plate, contrasting with the more matte, fabric-textured finish of the flight suit. This subtle difference in textures provides a sense of material realism that accurately reflects the cinematic costume.
  • Articulation: Featuring premium TVC articulation, including ball-jointed shoulders, elbows, and knees. The ball-jointed hips and "rocker" ankles are specifically engineered to allow the Pilot to sit in a natural, reclined pilot position or stand at a rigid, military attention during a Death Star inspection.
  • Display Utility: This is the essential "army builder" for any Imperial Hangar or Star Destroyer diorama. He is best positioned alongside a TIE Fighter or flanking Darth Vader (VC08).

Accessories & Equipment

The TIE Fighter Pilot comes prepared for emergency protocols. He includes his standard-issue E-11 blaster rifle, allowing him to defend Imperial assets on the ground or in the hangar. A standout feature of the 2011 release is the removable life-support hoses, which are made of a soft, pliable plastic to prevent them from hindering the figure's head or torso movement—a vast improvement over earlier, more rigid versions.
