Overview
Commander Gree is a Toys’R’Us exclusive released in July 2017 during San Diego Comic Con — Toys’R’Us partnered with Entertainment Earth at the con since they had no booth of their own — then available at all retail Toys’R’Us stores from Force Friday II on September 1st 2017, and later re-released in the Fan Channel in Fall 2019. $24.99 — $5 above standard single-card pricing at the time. Clone Commander CC-1004 “Gree,” who led the Elite Corps on Kashyyyk during the events of Revenge of the Sith. 19 joints — ball-jointed dual-axis neck, lower swivel neck, ball-jointed shoulders, double swivel elbows, ball-jointed torso, hips, swivel thighs, swivel joints above and below knees, ball-jointed ankles.
The Double Elbows and Binoculars
The double-jointed elbows exist specifically so the binoculars can be raised all the way up to Gree’s eyes — and they work. A figure designed for this pose. The binoculars fit well in both hands for the raised display.
Four Accessories
Blaster — fits well in both hands.
Blaster rifle — long rifle, fits both hands.
Binoculars — raised-to-eyes pose enabled by the double elbows.
Removable antenna — plugs into a small hole in the back of the figure’s backpack. The antenna falls out easily — make sure not to lose it. It’s the first accessory to go missing on loose sets.
The Paint
Camouflage colours on the armour look great and match the on-screen appearance well. Scratches, weathering, and battle damage across most of the armour. The one note: the boots are painted in simple grey only — no weathering or dirt, which looks inconsistent against the rest of the heavily battle-worn armour.
The Prequel Context
The source documentation specifically frames the $5 premium as worthwhile given how under-represented prequel characters were in the Black Series 6” line four years in. Gree is the kind of named Clone Commander who had never previously received the 6” treatment.
Secondary Market
TRU July 2017 / Force Friday II September 2017 / Fan Channel Fall 2019. Verify all four accessories — specifically the antenna, which is small and easily separated from a loose set.
Verdict
Commander Gree delivers on the articulation promise — double elbows for binocular display, excellent camouflage paint accuracy, and named Clone Commander character that was overdue in 6”. The antenna falls-out-easily note is the one ongoing secondary market caution. Worth the premium.
