Overview

Admiral Thrawn (SDCC 2017) is the San Diego Comic Con 2017 exclusive at $49.99, later also available at HasbroToyShop.com, Hascon, and Fan Expo Canada. The same figure as the basic line release (id=9032) — blue Chiss skin, red eyes, Grand Admiral white uniform, all details present — but with 10 accessories that make this one of the most fascinating exclusive sets in the Black Series programme’s history. The accessory selection draws on Thrawn’s in-universe compulsion to collect artefacts from across the galaxy, and Hasbro extended that logic into actual crossovers with other Hasbro-licensed properties. 19 joints — ball-jointed dual-axis neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist, hips, swivel thighs, swivel joints above and below knees, ball-jointed ankles.

The Ten Accessories

Blaster — fits well in both hands, right-hand trigger-finger, fits the holster.

Clone Commander Gree’s helmet — CC-1004 “Gree,” fits over Thrawn’s head. The helmet of a Clone Commander who served in the same era Thrawn studies obsessively.

Holy Grail from Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade — a direct cross-property Easter egg. Hasbro holds the Indiana Jones licence and included this artefact as a deliberate collector’s joke. An actual Holy Grail in Thrawn’s display collection.

Jedi Temple Guard helmet from Star Wars Rebels — fits over Thrawn’s head. From the same show Thrawn appears in.

Ysalamiri display with two pillars — the Force-negating lizards from the Zahn novels. Two creatures are glued to the display and cannot be removed. The creatures can be taken off the pillars and displayed differently, and other items can be placed on the pillars.

Syndulla Clan Kalikori sculpture from Star Wars Rebels — the Twi’lek family heirloom that Thrawn takes from Hera’s father. A specifically Rebels-narrative prop.

Haakskeekah Stone from The Dark Crystal — another cross-property crossover, this time with Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal. Hasbro includes an artefact from a completely different fiction in Thrawn’s collection as a collector’s Easter egg.

Lightsaber hilt — fits well in both hands.

The Figure

Blue face, red eyes, Grand Admiral badge on the chest — all the Thrawn details are present and the sculpt captures the Rebels character’s likeness. No removable parts on the outfit. The source documentation states directly: for fans of this character, the SDCC version is a must-have over the basic release.

Secondary Market

SDCC 2017 / HasbroToyShop / Hascon / Fan Expo Canada. Verify all 10 accessories. The Holy Grail, Kalikori, and Haakskeekah Stone are the most distinctive and easily confused on a loose set. Confirm the two Ysalamiri display creatures are still attached to the display base.

Verdict

Thrawn SDCC is the programme’s most conceptually ambitious accessory set — 10 artefacts from across three fictional universes (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, The Dark Crystal), each tied to Thrawn’s collector character. The figure itself is strong, and the basic line version is available for collectors who want the character without the accessory premium. For those who want the full set, it’s a must.
