Overview

Obi-Wan Kenobi (Clone Commander) is a Walgreens exclusive released October 22nd 2019 at $19.99 — Obi-Wan in his Phase II clone trooper armour, as worn during the Clone Wars when serving as a General commanding the 212th Attack Battalion. 23 joints — ball-jointed dual-axis neck, lower swivel neck, ball-jointed shoulders, swivel biceps, double swivel joints above and below elbows, ball-jointed wrists, upper body, hips, swivel thighs, swivel joints above and below knees, ball-jointed ankles.

Three Accessories

Lightsaber hilt — a hole in the belt allows the hilt to be plugged in for carried-weapon display. Holds well in both hands.

Removable blue blade — attaches and detaches cleanly.

Display stand — a clear see-through stand that works adequately. The shoe needs to be pressed firmly into the holder for it to stay — the same friction issue noted on other figures using this stand type. Obi-Wan stands well on his own without it.

The Cape Notes

The soft-goods cape is the most discussed feature — for the wrong reasons. Three specific observations: it is not removable, the fabric is very thin (hold the figure in front of a light source and you can see straight through it), and it has an unusually shiny finish on the brown fabric — an odd choice for a weathered Clone Wars veteran. These aren’t deal-breakers but are genuine quality notes to be aware of.

What’s Missing

No Clone Trooper helmet was included — a significant omission for a figure representing Obi-Wan’s “general in clone armour” configuration. The lightsaber hilt has simple unpainted grey plastic, which reads as a cost-cut on an otherwise good figure. Both are noted specifically in the source documentation.

The Face

Photo-real face printing gives the figure a more life-like appearance — outstanding for this specific Ewan McGregor likeness in the Clone Commander context.

Secondary Market

Walgreens, October 2019. Three accessories: lightsaber hilt, blade, display stand. Confirm hilt’s belt-plug peg is intact.

Verdict

Obi-Wan Kenobi Clone Commander is recommended despite its shortcomings — the photo-real face is excellent, the 23-joint double-elbow spec is the best articulation in the Walgreens range, and the overall display presence is strong. The see-through cape, shiny fabric, missing helmet, and unpainted hilt are real notes, just not fatal ones.
