Overview
Obi-Wan Kenobi with Electronic Holographic Table is a SDCC July 2016 exclusive at $44.99, with a limited run subsequently available through HasbroToyShop.com. The most ambitious single-figure exclusive in the Black Series 6” programme to that point — a figure with an outstanding head sculpt, two lightsabers including Anakin Skywalker’s, a soft-goods robe with a naturally poseable hood, and an electronic holographic table featuring Princess Leia with two-phase audio playback. The source documentation voted this the favourite Black Series 6” figure of 2016 outright. 19 joints — ball-jointed neck, lower swivel neck, ball-jointed shoulders, elbows, wrists, upper body, hips, swivel thighs, swivel joints above and below knees, ball-jointed ankles.
The Electronic Table
The table is the exclusive’s centrepiece, and it delivers. A button controls two phases of audio: the first press lights up the Leia hologram and plays “Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi”; the second press lights her up again for the full message speech. The audio sample was cleaned up — no background noise from the source recording, which is specifically noted as a quality touch. The table includes three AAA batteries. It’s sculpted and painted well and is described as making a great addition to any display. The Princess Leia hologram figure is removable from the table.
The Packaging
The packaging is among the best seen in the Black Series 6” programme. A small tray on the side of the packaging can be pulled out — it houses instructions and a cardboard display stand. The cardboard display stand can hold either Obi-Wan’s portrait or a card displaying Leia’s “Help me Obi-Wan” speech. This is the kind of packaging attention to detail that elevates a convention exclusive.
The Two Lightsabers
Obi-Wan comes with his own lightsaber and Anakin Skywalker’s blue lightsaber — the latter being the Skywalker lightsaber that passes through the saga. The figure holds both sabers well in each hand. One caveat: both saber blades were reported to be extremely difficult to remove from the hilts — pulling hard enough to risk breaking them. If the lightsaber blades on a loose purchase appear fused, this is a known issue rather than damage.
The Robe and Face
The soft-goods Jedi robe fits surprisingly well and doesn’t feel overly bulky. The hood can be adjusted naturally. The head sculpt is outstanding — looks just like Alec Guinness. Clothing is kept in a clean condition; a little Tatooine weathering on the outfit and boots would have been nice but wasn’t included. Later released without the electronic table, Anakin’s lightsaber, and the premium packaging as the standard Black Series Obi-Wan (id=4842).
Secondary Market
SDCC 2016 / HasbroToyShop.com. Verify accessories: robe, both lightsabers, electronic table (test the button — two phases should trigger), Princess Leia hologram (confirm removable from table), display stand tray and contents. Confirm batteries are working or replaceable (three AAA).
Verdict
Obi-Wan Kenobi with Electronic Table is the standard against which Phase 3 SDCC exclusives are measured — premium packaging, functioning electronics with cleaned audio, two historical lightsabers, an outstanding Alec Guinness face, and a table that’s genuinely worth displaying independently. At $44.99 the value is unambiguous.
