Overview
Anakin Skywalker Force Spirit is the redeemed Anakin of the ROTJ finale — the unmasked face standing in the Force alongside Obi-Wan and Yoda as Luke watches from the Endor celebration. Translucent blue plastic throughout. Photo Real face printing with Hayden Christensen’s likeness, matching the revised version of the scene. Part of the 40th Anniversary ROTJ programme, 2023.
Available both as a standalone release and as part of the Force Ghosts 3-Pack alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi (Force Spirit) and Yoda (Force Spirit).
The Force Spirit Configuration
The Force Spirit Anakin is unlike any other Anakin figure in the Black Series. Every other version — the Padawan, the Clone Wars general, the Revenge of the Sith warrior — shows Anakin at some point before he became Darth Vader, or after as Vader himself. This one shows what he becomes when the Vader chapter is over: Anakin Skywalker standing in the Force, no armour, no life support, no dark side. Just the person who existed before all of that, who chose to come back.
The translucent blue plastic is the design statement. The figure is made of light, which is exactly right for what the character becomes at the end of ROTJ. The blue cast is consistent throughout — robes, face, hands — and in direct light the effect is more convincing than the product images suggest. Photo Real printing on the face means the Hayden Christensen likeness reads clearly through the blue.
The specific likeness reflects the canonical version of the scene as it currently exists. Collectors who prefer the original Sebastian Shaw appearance have no Black Series equivalent for this configuration — the Shaw likeness has not been produced in the modern line.
What the Figure Represents
Anakin Skywalker’s arc across six films ends here: the slave boy from Tatooine who became the most powerful Jedi in a generation, who fell to the dark side, who spent twenty years as Darth Vader, and who came back in the final minutes of his life. The Endor appearance is the trilogy’s emotional conclusion — the confirmation that the person Obi-Wan and Yoda believed in was still there, that Luke’s faith was correct, that the sacrifice meant something.
A translucent blue Anakin standing in a group of three is the specific visual image the films built toward. The figure gets that right.
ROTJ 40th Anniversary Context
Released as part of the 2023 Return of the Jedi 40th Anniversary programme. Hasbro Pulse and ShopDisney exclusive. The same wave delivered the Emperor, Bib Fortuna, Stormtrooper ROTJ, Boba Fett ROTJ, Wicket, Princess Leia Endor, Han Solo Endor, and the Rebel Commando Endor Deluxe. The Force Spirit figures are the finale of that wave — the last images of the film rendered in translucent plastic.
Before and After: The Complete Anakin Display
The Force Spirit Anakin is more interesting displayed alongside the armoured Darth Vader figures than it is displayed alone. The contrast is the point — the same person at maximum narrative distance. A Darth Vader (A New Hope) or Darth Vader (Duel’s End) on one end of a shelf, the Force Spirit Anakin on the other, is the complete arc of the character made physical. Both figures at retail pricing. The arc is visible.
For a more focused display, the Force Ghosts 3-Pack presents all three ROTJ Force Spirits together as Hasbro intended — the three mentors standing at the edge of the Endor celebration in matching translucent deco.
Secondary Market
Hasbro Pulse and ShopDisney exclusive. Secondary market pricing runs above retail on the standalone, particularly as the 40th Anniversary programme aged out of active production. The 3-pack offers better value if acquiring all three Force Spirits simultaneously — single-figure secondary market pricing versus the $77.99 set price typically favours the 3-pack for completists.
Our Verdict
The Force Spirit Anakin is the only Black Series figure that captures Anakin Skywalker’s ending — not the warrior, not the Sith, but the person who chose to come back. The translucent plastic effect is more convincing in person than in product images. Essential for ROTJ displays and for any character-complete Anakin collection. If you’re acquiring all three Force Spirits, the 3-Pack is the most efficient route.
