Yoda (Force Spirit) — Star Wars The Black Series

The Star Wars Black Series Yoda Force Spirit — translucent blue deco from the Return of the Jedi finale. Part of the Force Ghosts 3-Pack (Hasbro Pulse/ShopDisney exclusive) and available as a standalone. 40th Anniversary ROTJ, 2023. 14 points of articulation.

Overview

Yoda Force Spirit is the luminous Jedi Master rendered in translucent blue — the ROTJ Endor celebration apparition standing alongside Anakin and Obi-Wan. Translucent blue plastic throughout. 14 points of articulation. Hasbro Pulse and ShopDisney exclusive. Part of the Force Ghosts 3-Pack alongside Anakin Skywalker (Force Spirit) and Obi-Wan Kenobi (Force Spirit). 40th Anniversary ROTJ, 2023.

The Force Spirit Configuration

The translucent plastic effect works particularly well on Yoda. The character’s small size means the light passes through the figure more completely than it does on the taller human figures — the blue cast is consistent throughout the body rather than concentrated at the base, which makes the Force Spirit effect more convincing. At this scale in translucent blue, Yoda reads immediately as a presence made of light rather than a physical object cast in plastic.

This is the ROTJ Yoda — the master who died on Dagobah early in the film, who confirmed that Vader is Luke’s father and Leia is his sister, and who appears one last time at Endor alongside Obi-Wan and Anakin in the finale. It’s the last time the character appears in the original trilogy before the prequel films reintroduce him in living form.

The figure is distinct from both the standard Yoda figures in the Black Series and the Dagobah-era Yoda from the 40th Anniversary ESB wave. This is the Force Spirit — Yoda after death, standing in the luminous field of the living Force rather than in physical existence. It’s a configuration that no other release covers.

14 Points of Articulation

GalacticFigures records 14 points: ball-jointed neck, ball-jointed shoulders, ball-jointed elbows, swivel wrists, ball-jointed torso, swivel hips, ball-jointed knees, and ball-jointed ankles. For a figure at Yoda’s scale this is a generous articulation count — genuinely poseable rather than a static display piece. This matters for Yoda specifically, whose physical expressiveness in the films is significant: the way he moves, the slight tilt of the head, the position of the walking stick. A poseable Force Spirit Yoda can be arranged into something that feels right rather than just stood upright on a shelf.

Yoda’s Position in the Trilogy’s Ending

Yoda is the oldest of the three Force Spirits at Endor — 900 years old at death, the last of the old Jedi Order, the teacher of teachers. He trained Obi-Wan (indirectly, through the Order), Obi-Wan trained Anakin, Anakin fell, Obi-Wan trained Luke, and Yoda confirmed what Luke needed to know before he could face Vader. The Endor appearance is the triumvirate of Jedi wisdom standing together to witness what their work produced — a redeemed Anakin, a victorious Luke, the end of Palpatine’s reign.

The translucent blue Yoda in this set is small compared to the two human figures beside him, which is exactly right. He’s always been the smallest presence in the room and the most significant.

ROTJ 40th Anniversary Context

Released as part of the 2023 Return of the Jedi 40th Anniversary programme. Hasbro Pulse and ShopDisney exclusive. The wave also delivered the Emperor, Bib Fortuna, Stormtrooper ROTJ, Boba Fett ROTJ, Wicket, Princess Leia Endor, Han Solo Endor, and the Rebel Commando Endor Deluxe. The Force Spirit figures are the emotional finale of that programme.

Display

The Endor finale display is the primary context — all three Force Spirits together, the Force Ghosts 3-Pack packaging them for exactly this purpose. The Force Spirit Yoda also pairs well with the Dagobah-era figures from the 40th Anniversary ESB wave — the teacher in his final living moments alongside the teacher in his Force presence. The contrast between the practical Dagobah Yoda (walking stick, worn robes, physical exhaustion) and the luminous Force Spirit Yoda (translucent blue, timeless, at peace) makes both figures more interesting.

Secondary Market

Hasbro Pulse and ShopDisney exclusive. Above retail secondary market on standalone. The 3-pack is the more efficient acquisition path if collecting all three Force Spirits simultaneously — the $77.99 set price typically works out better than three standalone aftermarket purchases.

Our Verdict

The Force Spirit Yoda is the most visually effective of the three figures in the set — the translucent plastic works best at his scale, and the 14-point articulation count means he can be posed into something that feels right. Essential for any ROTJ display. The Force Ghosts 3-Pack is the recommended acquisition path for all three together.
