Overview
The Biker Scout Carbonized is a March 2022 Target-exclusive metallic repaint of the 2014 Black Series Biker Scout (figure id=2322), released in Mandalorian-themed packaging alongside the Shoretrooper (Carbonized) and Paz Vizsla (Carbonized) as a three-figure Target Carbonized wave. Target exclusive at $26.49. 25 joints — the highest joint count in this Carbonized wave and notably above the Phase 4 baseline. One accessory: a blaster that stows in the right-boot holster. The Carbonized metallic paint finish is a collector novelty — not screen-accurate to any canonical appearance of the Biker Scout character class.
The 25-Joint Articulation
25 joints is the standout engineering detail of this release and worth leading with. Ball-jointed top neck, swivel middle neck, ball-jointed shoulders, swivel biceps, swivel joints above and below the elbows, ball-jointed wrists, ball-jointed upper body, ball-jointed hips, swivel thighs, swivel joints above and below the knees, swivel boots, ball-jointed ankles. The dual-axis neck (barbell plus swivel), swivel biceps, dual-axis elbows (above and below), and swivel boots put this well above the Phase 4 17-joint baseline. For an Imperial trooper character class that often gets single-axis joints throughout, the 2014 source body’s articulation commitment holds up well.
The swivel boot engineering is particularly useful for the Biker Scout character — the canonical speeder-bike riding configuration benefits from independent foot-angle adjustment that standard ankle-only configurations can’t deliver.
The Carbonized Finish
The metallic shiny paint application makes this a novelty item, not a figure accurate to any Star Wars film or TV appearance. The Carbonized finish is consistent across the March 2022 Target wave — all three figures get the same metallic treatment applied to their respective source bodies. For the Biker Scout specifically, the standard white-and-black armour colourway disappears entirely under the metallic sheen, which is a more dramatic transformation than the Shoretrooper’s dark-golden finish.
The figure released in Mandalorian-themed packaging — an interesting choice for an Return of the Jedi-era character, but consistent with the broader Carbonized wave’s framing around the Mandalorian TV series’s Carbonized-themed packaging aesthetic.
The Blaster and Boot Holster
The blaster can be placed into a holster located on the right boot — the canonical Biker Scout equipment-stowage configuration. Even though the blaster is small in nature, the included weapon feels too small. Specific accessory-proportion critique: the blaster is undersized relative to the figure’s hand scale, which is a source-body carry-over from the 2014 tooling rather than a Carbonized-specific issue.
Articulation in Context
The 25-joint count makes the Biker Scout Carbonized structurally the most articulated figure in the March 2022 Target Carbonized wave. By comparison, the Shoretrooper (Carbonized) uses 19 joints and the Paz Vizsla (Carbonized) uses 19. For collectors who value articulation above screen accuracy in their Carbonized display choices, the Biker Scout is the most pose-flexible entry in this wave.
The figure stands well on display. No removable helmet, no removable armour — fully integrated Imperial trooper configuration throughout.
The March 2022 Target Carbonized Wave
The three March 2022 Target Carbonized figures form a thematically unusual cluster — a Return of the Jedi Biker Scout, a Mandalorian-era Heavy Infantry Mandalorian, and a Rogue One Shoretrooper in Mandalorian-themed packaging. The character-era spread is deliberately eclectic, which is consistent with Target’s Carbonized exclusive programme prioritising novelty visual variety over narrative coherence.
Secondary Market
Single-carded Target exclusive Carbonized release in Mandalorian-themed packaging, March 2022. Available on the secondary market. Verify the blaster is present — single-accessory releases make this straightforward.
Verdict
Biker Scout (Carbonized) leads the March 2022 Target Carbonized wave in articulation — 25 joints with dual-axis neck, swivel biceps, dual-axis elbows, and swivel boots put it well above the wave’s other two entries and above the Phase 4 baseline. The boot holster works, the source-body engineering holds up from the 2014 tooling, and the figure stands reliably.
The too-small blaster is a minor but real proportion issue. The metallic Carbonized finish is a screen-inaccurate collector novelty by design — if you want the canonical white-and-black Biker Scout, the Archive Collection Biker Scout delivers that. This is for collectors who specifically want the Carbonized metallic variant, are building a complete Carbonized collection, or appreciate the above-baseline 25-joint articulation of the 2014 source body in any finish.
The Imperial Scout Trooper trained for independence and adaptability, in metallic Carbonized silver. The figure with the 25-joint dual-axis articulation, the boot holster blaster, the too-small weapon critique, and a finish that appears nowhere in canonical Star Wars media. Target exclusive, March 2022, Mandalorian-themed packaging.
