Overview
The Clone Trooper & Halloween Vampire Porg Halloween Edition 2-Pack is the second of two Halloween Edition 2-packs released in late October 2022 exclusively at Target. Target exclusive at $27.99. The Phase II Clone Trooper has a unique Halloween skeleton paint application. A Halloween Vampire Porg accompanies. Pack #2 of 2 in the 2022 Halloween Edition series. Year imprinted: 2020.
The Skeleton Paint
For this release the Phase II Clone was given a unique Halloween paint application — a skeleton motif across the armour. The skeleton on the armour is unfortunately not glow in the dark, and there is no paint on the back except for the black plastic. Both are notable omissions: the glow-in-dark would have been a natural fit for a skeleton Halloween concept, and the unpainted back means the figure reads as Halloween only from the front.
The Six Accessories — The Star of the Release
Chest — the chest looks great. The outside of the box has Mynocks and Maldo Kreis spiders painted on it. The bottom of the lid has a ghostly image of Jabba the Hutt painted on it. This is the most elaborately decorated accessory in the 2022 Halloween Edition series — the chest itself is a miniature Halloween scene. It’s a repaint of the one which came with Maz Kanata, but with completely new Halloween-specific artwork on all surfaces.
Five Beskar units — store inside the chest. The interactive storage functionality echoes the Wookiee Halloween Edition’s Camtono-with-chocolate-bars concept — a seasonal accessory that opens, stores items inside, and closes.
No weapons were included with the Clone Trooper. Standard armament is absent.
Soft Plastic Bells AND Knee Pads
The shoulder bells and the knee pads are made out of very soft plastic which allows for a wider range of movement. The same dual-soft-component engineering commended on the Clone Trooper Phase II Holiday Edition (2022) — both trooper constraints addressed simultaneously. 17 joints. The figure balances well on display.
Verdict
Clone Trooper & Halloween Vampire Porg Halloween Edition 2-Pack is built around its chest accessory — the Mynocks-and-Maldo-Kreis exterior with ghostly Jabba interior is the most elaborately painted seasonal accessory in the 2022 Halloween Edition programme. The skeleton-not-glow-in-dark and no-paint-on-back are the two meaningful critique notes. Soft bells and knee pads deliver above-standard articulation range.
