Commander Pyre: first realistic 6-inch, black-and-gold FO Stormtrooper repaint with grey pauldron. MSE Droid: first Mouse Droid in Black Series 6-inch, beautiful used paint.

Overview

The Galaxy’s Edge First Order 4-Pack was released on May 31st 2019 — the opening day of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland — as a Disney park exclusive at $69.99. The villain-side counterpart to the Smuggler’s Run 5-Pack, themed around the First Order’s occupation of Batuu. Mountain Trooper, Kylo Ren, Commander Pyre, and an MSE Droid. Three of the four are programme firsts: the Mountain Trooper had never appeared in any Star Wars media, Commander Pyre received his first realistic 6” treatment, and the MSE Droid made its Black Series 6” debut.

Mountain Trooper

The Mountain Trooper is a Batuu-specific First Order trooper variant developed for Galaxy’s Edge — as of the June 2019 review, the figure existed before the character had appeared in any Star Wars film, series, or other media. 19 joints. One accessory: blaster rifle, both-hands grip with trigger-finger placement. Glossy white armour with scratches and dirt applied front and back. No removable parts, no head under the helmet. No balance issues. Re-released as a single-card Target exclusive in 2020 (id=25792).

Kylo Ren

A rework of the 2017 The Last Jedi Kylo Ren (id=8017) with one specific change: a different head sculpt. 19 joints. Three accessories: red cross-guard lightsaber, a separate non-ignited lightsaber hilt (pegs into a hole at the back of the belt), and a removable plastic robe that sits loosely on the shoulders. Both hilt configurations fit well in the hands. No head under the helmet. No balance issues.

Commander Pyre

The first realistic 6” Commander Pyre — a character who originated in the animated Star Wars: Resistance series. The source documentation is specific: this is not a Captain Phasma repaint. It’s built on the First Order Stormtrooper body (id=3462) with a black-and-gold armour paint application and a grey shoulder pauldron added. 19 joints. Three accessories: blaster and blaster rifle (both plug into the right thigh peg hole, both allow trigger-finger grip), and the removable grey shoulder pauldron.

One practical note on the pauldron: removing it requires popping off the helmet first to slide it free — a process the source documentation explicitly does not recommend, calling it tough to do. For practical purposes, treat the pauldron as a display-permanent element. The golden paint application looks cool but a vac-metallized finish would have been preferred over the standard paint.

Commander Pyre was later released as a single-card figure in October 2020 (id=25866).

MSE Droid

The first Mouse Droid in the Black Series 6” line. The MSE series had appeared as pack-in accessories in smaller scales for decades, but never as a standalone 6” figure until this set. 2 joints — swivel wheel sets. No accessories, no removable panels, no hidden compartments. The wheels function and the droid can be rolled.

The paint application is the MSE’s standout quality: a beautifully applied wash giving a used look, with scratches and scuffs on the edges that look great — a surprisingly impressive paint job for a small accessory-scale droid elevated to main figure status.

The Galaxy’s Edge Occupation Context

The First Order maintains an occupation of Batuu in the Galaxy’s Edge park narrative, which explains the set’s composition: a Batuu-specific Mountain Trooper, the commanding villain, the Resistance cartoon antagonist Commander Pyre, and the ubiquitous Mouse Droid that scurries through First Order installations. All four are tied to the park’s specific setting between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker.

Secondary Market

Disney exclusive, May 2019, opening day Galaxy’s Edge. Verify all seven accessories: Mountain Trooper’s blaster rifle; Kylo Ren’s lightsaber, hilt, and robe; Commander Pyre’s blaster, blaster rifle, and grey pauldron. The lightsaber hilt (separate from the ignited saber) and the grey pauldron are the smallest and most easily separated components.

Verdict

Galaxy’s Edge First Order 4-Pack is the more collector-significant of the two opening day sets, with three genuine programme firsts: the Mountain Trooper appearing before the character existed in any filmed media, Commander Pyre’s first realistic 6” figure after years of animated-style releases, and the MSE Droid’s Black Series debut with paint quality that outperforms its scale. Kylo Ren’s new head is the most modest addition. At $69.99 for four figures including two all-new characters, the set delivers.
