The Wookiee & Holiday Buddy Porg Holiday Edition 2-Pack is the first of six Holiday Edition 2-packs in the 2022 series, released in late October 2022 exclusively through GameStop. GameStop exclusive at $27.99 — a step up from the 2020 series’ $24.99 price point. The Wookiee is a composite of potentially new head sculpt, the previously released Black Series Chewbacca body, and the harness from Zaalbar, all in a seasonal colour scheme. The Holiday Buddy Porg accompanies in festive styling. Pack #1 of 6 in the 2022 Holiday Edition series.

The Composite Sculpt

This figure is a creative parts assembly. The body uses the previously released Black Series Chewbacca source body. The harness around the upper body is a re-use of the one used on Zaalbar (figure id=27101) in red — a striking seasonal colour choice. The head sculpt appears to be new, though identifying it with certainty proved difficult even on careful examination.

The red harness is its own individual piece but cannot be taken off the Wookiee. The Wookiee stands just over 7 inches tall (almost 18 cm) — above the standard Black Series scale, appropriate for the canonically tall Wookiee species.

The Three-Part Bowcaster

The Wookiee comes with a bowcaster which consists of three parts: the scope, the main weapon body, and the front section. The three-part assembly delivers a weapon with above-standard visual complexity for a Holiday Edition accessory. The bowcaster fits well into the hands.

The bowcaster can be attached to the harness on the back — originally the back attachment point was designed to work with the sword included with Zaalbar, but it works with the bowcaster as well. The back-stowage configuration supports canonical at-rest display alongside held combat configurations.

The Fur-Limited Articulation

17 joints. Ball-jointed neck, ball-jointed shoulders, elbows, and wrists, swivel upper torso, ball-jointed waist, swivel hips, swivel thighs, ball-jointed knees, ball-jointed ankles. Standard Phase 4 baseline. Even though the neck, wrists, and ankles are ball-jointed they can only be moved a little due to the plastic fur getting in the way. This is the canonical Wookiee species-class articulation challenge — the full-body fur covering physically restricts joint range of motion regardless of the underlying engineering. Expect limited pose flexibility from the ball joints in practice.

The figure stands well on display without falling over despite the above-baseline height.

The 2022 Holiday Edition Context

The 2022 Holiday Edition series expanded to six 2-packs across multiple retailers. At $27.99 the price stepped up from 2020’s $24.99 standard, consistent with broader Phase 4 price-tier increases between the two series. The Wookiee opens the 2022 series as Pack #1 of 6.

Wookiee & Holiday Buddy Porg Holiday Edition 2-Pack is a characterful 2022 Holiday Edition entry — the composite sculpt combining the Chewbacca body with Zaalbar’s red harness creates a distinctive seasonal Wookiee that doesn’t directly duplicate any prior release, the three-part bowcaster with back-harness stowage is a well-engineered accessory, and the above-7” scale gives the figure strong display presence. The plastic fur restricting practical ball-joint movement is the inherent Wookiee-class articulation constraint, not a figure-specific failing.
