Kuiil — Star Wars The Black Series

The Star Wars Black Series Kuiil — Deluxe release from The Mandalorian, 2020. The Ugnaught vapor farmer from Arvala-7 with blaster rifle, cap, and scarf/backpack. Outstanding head sculpt. One of three Black Series Kuiil releases alongside the 2021 Mandalorian sub-line figure and the Credit Collection.

Overview

Kuiil is the Ugnaught vapor farmer from Arvala-7 who shelters Din Djarin in the first episode of The Mandalorian and becomes one of the series’ most quietly affecting characters across Season 1. The Black Series Deluxe release from 2020 is the first Kuiil figure in the line — blaster rifle with removable strap, cap, and scarf/backpack combo. Outstanding head sculpt. Standard retail at the Deluxe price point.

Three Black Series Kuiil figures exist: this 2020 Deluxe, the 2021 Mandalorian sub-line release, and the Credit Collection. The 2020 Deluxe is the original release and the one with the most complete accessory loadout.

The Figure

The head sculpt is the figure’s strongest element — the Ugnaught face is detailed and characterful, capturing the specific dignity of the character without softening the alien design. GalacticFigures notes the sculpt as outstanding. Kuiil is taller than a standard Ugnaught would be expected to be — the figure stands roughly one head shorter than a regular 6-inch Black Series figure, which matches the screen appearance.

Paint application is clean but basic — no weathering or dirt effects despite the character spending his days farming vapor on a desert moon. For a character defined by practical, hard-working simplicity this is arguably appropriate, though collectors who want a more worn look will need to do their own work.

Articulation is generous for the Deluxe format: ball-jointed neck (top and lower), ball-jointed shoulders, ball-jointed elbows, ball-jointed wrists, ball-jointed waist, ball-jointed hips, swivel thighs, ball-jointed knees, and ball-jointed ankles. The figure stands well on display without balance issues.

Accessories

The blaster rifle is the primary weapon — Kuiil can hold it in both hands, though the trigger finger pose is difficult to achieve with the index finger on the trigger. The rifle hangs over his shoulders via the removable strap. The cap and scarf/backpack combo complete the Arvala-7 vapor farming silhouette. The scarf is removable — unplug the head first to remove it. The cap is sculpted onto the head and is not removable.

The Character

Kuiil spent his life working off an Imperial indenture and came to Arvala-7 specifically to be left alone. He’s not a fighter, not a warrior, not motivated by ideology or credits — he’s a craftsman who wants to live quietly and is frustrated that the galaxy keeps intruding on that. The phrase he becomes known for in the series — “I have spoken” — is the verbal equivalent of that personality: patient, final, not interested in further argument.

He trains Din Djarin to ride a blurrg in their first meeting, repairs and reprograms IG-11 as a nurse droid, and dies protecting Grogu in the Season 1 finale. For a character who appears in six episodes he leaves a disproportionate mark on the series and on the viewer. The figure captures his workmanlike solidity — the sense of someone who does what needs doing without drama about it.

Three Kuiil Releases

The 2020 Deluxe is the most accessory-complete Kuiil. The 2021 Mandalorian sub-line figure is the standard mainline version at a lower price point. The Credit Collection Kuiil is a repaint of the 2020 Deluxe in the weathered credit-image deco of the Credit Collection sub-line, with a Galactic Credit accessory. All three use the same underlying sculpt — the differences are accessories, paint, and packaging.

For collectors who want one Kuiil, the 2020 Deluxe has the best accessory count. For collectors who want the Credit Collection aesthetic, the repaint is the right choice. The 2021 Mandalorian sub-line figure is the most available at retail.

Display

Kuiil anchors a Nevarro Streets or Arvala-7 display alongside Din Djarin, Grogu, IG-11, and the other Season 1 Mandalorian figures. He’s a supporting character rather than a centrepiece, but the right supporting character makes a display feel complete. A Mandalorian Season 1 shelf without Kuiil is missing something.

Secondary Market

The 2020 Deluxe is available on secondary market at or below retail — the figure was widely available and the Deluxe price point means it has seen less secondary market pressure than some of the more exclusive Mandalorian sub-line releases. A straightforward acquisition.

Our Verdict

The 2020 Kuiil Deluxe is the most complete Kuiil figure in the Black Series — the best accessories, the outstanding head sculpt, and the full articulation of the Deluxe format at a price point that hasn’t appreciated significantly on secondary market. For collectors building a Mandalorian Season 1 display, Kuiil is essential and this is the version to get.
